The things I think about while wandering through book stores…

No, I don’t really wonder
I thought it sounded like a cool thing
to mull over in a poem

Well, now I wonder a little
seeing as how I’ve posed the question

Would he have riffed on the sounds
he’d make as he was playing?

Perhaps he’d expand on the titles
he gave his pieces?

Maybe he’d prove to be
an unexpected master
of the sonnet or haiku

Or could it be that we’d learn
that Thelonious Monk was a better musician
than he was a poet…
