It’s hard to know how close I am getting to ‘poems that discover themselves along the way’, but this is today’s attempt.
This wasn’t the place I was thinking of
when I was wondering where I belonged
I can’t help finding comfort in shadows
some days the light demands more than I have
Details in high relief
make poor hiding places
the edges are too close together
The treetops make me dizzy
they dance in the wind
and I get lost
in the blood-red sky
