I had planned to explore the elevenie as my writing challenge for May. I even wrote a poem that I was about ready to post. Then I saw a Twitter post from Wave Books:
I like the idea of ‘poems that discover themselves along the way’, so that will be my writing challenge this month.
Trixie lifts her head
and stares, wide-eyed
out the window
I turn my head
to look out the window
at what she sees
All I can see
through this oft-mentioned window
are the trees out back
remarkably still
on this rainy afternoon
Now the occasional leaf flips—
diving boards for raindrops
I sit next to Trixie
and we watch
(1 May 2017)
