Walking mute (a poem)

Presented without comment (except for this)…

Inarticulate I have become
slowed by everything I feel
The barrier feels thicker than usual
words crowd together in silence
The chill in the air makes me cold
I have nothing to say

There is so much to be done
too much concealed
but sometimes the standby rituals
don’t change the circumstance
I go back out into the world
not quite knowing the way
