Everything’s the same in the end (a poem)

The May 11th prompt in The Daily Poet: Day-By-Day Prompts For Your Writing Practice, by Kelli Russell Agodon & Martha Silano, is to “pretend you can see into the future.”

Everything’s the same in the end
Not that we’d know,
because we all die alone

Everything’s the same in the end
absent though we are
through the end of eternity

Everything’s the same in the end
Nothing lasts forever
not even forever

Everything’s the same in the end
Do you remember
what came before you?

Everything’s the same in the end
It’ll be more of the same
until it isn’t
