Bookstore Poem #493

Not really in a writing space, so I struggled a bit for words most of the day—ended up repeating myself more than I would like…

The laws of attraction
have shifted into reverse
I can’t speak a word until she’s left the room
and the farther away she gets
the more interested I am

I feel it
but then I think it
and what’s worth thinking over
is worth overthinking

And when I die
I’ll be alone
leaving no one else to carry on
and nothing to hold on to

They’ll board up the place when I’m gone
