When the poet forgets to breathe (a poem)

It would be irresponsible of me to say more than what is in the poem…

The hand punctuates
every. single. staccato. word.
filling the room
with so many commas, hyphens, and exclamation marks
it gets hard to breathe
for all the sharp points

By the time he gets to the end
the poet’s dirty shirt
is ripped to shreds
