            dabbed
            scraped
            splattered
            splashed
            smoothed
            swirled

            in

            black
            blue
            grey
            yellow
            green
            magenta

They are faces
            close-up
            from afar

Looking ahead
            askance
            to the sky
            to the horizon

            in

            serenity
            sadness
            smiles
            contemplation
            worry
            joy

Eye to eye
no place to hide

Return their gaze
