An observation I made while waiting for the bus a couple mornings ago…

Cigarette-butt diagonals
are an unexamined force of nature

Disregarded as litter
they almost surely point
to a slumbering universal truth

A cigarette butt
always and necessarily
forms a diagonal to something

Groups of them
form diagonals to each other
along both x and y axes

When this stops happening
we can be sure
the death of gravity is at hand
