This Is Fifty-Three, day 17

It occurred to me late last night that this veritable extravaganza of a book I am working on could turn out to be quite expensive. All the photos and color and bleeds I want will require better paper, which will mean choosing the ‘premium’ option (basically, what you’d expect from a book of photography) when it comes to actually getting the thing printed, thus adding to the cost.

At this point, that means I am working on a book that I may not be able to afford to produce. Grrr…

One possible solution may be to mimic the current music industry practice of producing more than one edition—i.e., a standard edition and a ‘super-deluxe’ edition.

For now, I am going to keep working to the original idea, as it will be easier to do that now, then create a stripped-down version, than it would to do it the other way around.

Unlike the Formalities section, I plan to be more flexible with this section. Apart from continuing to use the six-column grid and the same basic margins, I expect to use more graphic elements, tailor my typeface choices to poem and visuals, and maybe throw in a few other things here and there (where it seems appropriate).
