Corporate America (a poem)

Never expected to be one of those people, but I’ve started using Apple Pencil—which has nothing whatsoever to do with this poem, except that I forgot to change the start of this post, and then selected a Pencil-drawn sketch as the featured image…

I’m not a sinner
she don’t move me that way
‘Asking is just polite demanding’
I got nothing else to say

Impatience is not a virtue
ask the skeletons waiting in the queue
about hurrying through life
running around without a clue

Diffuse light makes for pretty pictures
but it doesn’t reveal a thing
It’s the focused beam that brings clarity
however it cuts, or slices, or stings

So bring a full lunch with you—
I like my lunchmeats sliced thin
