Every once in a while, I remember that one zoology class I took…

I don’t share
that particular fascination

It was interesting
when I took that class in college
but a couple of random facts
and an in-class demonstration
that made everyone cringe
(blood flows in only one direction)
are all I remember

I prefer the metaphorical blood and flesh
to the real thing

They’re less messy
and can be erased
without consequence
(except for the odd paper cut)
or significant expense
