The ballad of Ted Knight

Each night they knighted Ted Knight
Ted Knight disappeared into the night

Each morning, Master Ted Knight
denied he’d been knighted

but night after night he became the vaunted
night-time knight, Sir Ted Knight

Eventually, Ted Knight, knighted nightly
as Sir Ted Knight, the night-time knight

grew up to become Ted Knight, the Emmy-winning actor
known more for the Mary Tyler Moore Show

in the role of Ted Baxter
