This Is Fifty-Three, day 28
After a very productive day yesterday, I spent today going through all the sections of the book, making small adjustments here and there, swapping out photos, and even taking out a couple of inadvertent duplicates (the poem ‘Sinistrata’ appeared in two sections, for example).
One small frustration I had was that I would look for a specific photo, but wouldn’t be able to find it—until, of course, I had given up, moved on, and was looking for an entirely different photo. Lots of back and forth today.
Anyway, I made enough progress that I felt comfortable working on a cover draft:
If you’ve seen any of my social media feeds, you will recognize the cover image as my profile photo. It’s an iPhone photo that I turned into a Polaroid using the Impossible Instant Lab Universal and a pack of expired Impossible SX-70 Black & White Silver Frame Edition film.
I already like this cover, but I will do at least a couple more drafts. Then I will let those sit for a spell, while I work on editing the photos I have selected so far. Some will require little more than the necessary adjustments for print; others will need some retouching as well. In a couple of cases, I may need to re-scan the original photos.
