Unrevealed

Today’s writing prompt: Tell us about a blog post that you didn’t publish.

There are a lot of blog posts I haven’t published. When I started this blog, my intention was to write a series of off-the-cuff posts about important matters of the day. In fact, I even managed to start on a few, all saved on my computer.

My thinking was that we have “experts” of all stripes over-saturating the airwaves and print media, but rarely do we hear from ordinary people unless the forum is something along the lines of a radio call-in show or a news report in which “bystanders” are interviewed following some horrific event.

Then two things occurred to me:

1. We already have “experts” of all stripes over-saturating the airwaves and print media. The absence of any claims of expertise aside, how would my “ordinary average thoughts” be any different from what’s already out there?

2. I really did not want to put myself in a position where I’d have to start arguing the finer points of off-the-cuff statements with anyone under the sway of any of these “experts” whenever I expressed an opinion that was either unpopular or happened to coincide with one of the two camps (i.e., “liberal” and “conservative”) that we seem to like assigning everything to.

So, all of those “ordinary average thoughts” I had originally thought about using this blog to explore went directly to the trash (sorry—I don’t do Windows®). Instead, this blog has become something a bit more personal. I think it’s probably more interesting that way, anyway.
