I seem to be running a day behind this week…

The voice suggests
it is tired
and knows
it hasn’t got far to go
a knowledge that comes
with the gradual disappearance
of everyone
one way or another

The dream offers up answers
before itself fading
with slim chance of returning
when morning comes

What is the reward?
A secret kept best
offers neither notions
nor evidence

Sleep is and is not
a preview
but when it’s dreamless
and undisturbed
