Something from the typewriter.
do we have to imagine the flames
or do they happen at the molecular level
where they don’t generate enough heat
to be seen or felt
so what we think is an intact paper aeroplane
is really the burned-out carcass
a skeleton of paper fibres and sub-arachnoid space
erasures are the weak points of the structure
but we keep on rubbing
until we tear a hole or two
then crumple the whole thing up
and toss it into the incinerator
to finish the job
