My day 16 poem for National Poetry Writing Month uses the prompt from Napowrimo.net—to write a poem in the form of either a letter to someone or back-and-forth correspondence.
If I should think about it…
I haven’t dreamed about you
for twenty-four years
No moments of melancholy
that stretch to fill the hours
No episodes of drama, action, and intrigue
or mysteries unsolved
No missed connections
in just-vacated apartments
No juicy encounters
that don’t get to happen
No happy endings
to episodes of bliss
No, I never have dreams
about the one I love
