My eleventh poem for National Poetry Writing Month uses the prompt from Napowrimo.net—to write a bop.
Fly the friendly skies…?
Once associated with gangs
and cowards,
the tactic of many against one
is increasingly the first tactic
to be employed
in sticky situations
‘Fly the friendly skies of United’
Initial attempts at intimidation
meet with resistance
expressions of anger and irritation
This is when the trouble begins
The laying on of hands
escalates the confrontation
and the tactic once associated with gangs and cowards
kicks in
‘Fly the friendly skies of United’
Where once it was his word against theirs
now the cameras come out
at the first sign of trouble
Each new punch, every drop of blood
is captured from many angles
accusations and recriminations ensue
‘Fly the friendly skies of United’

A timely poem! I like that you used their jingle for your refrain, the more you read, the more the refrain deepens in meaning and sarcasm. Love it!

Thanks! I would rather have written about something else, but I had to get it out of my system…
